How does a sewer camera work?
A drain or sewer camera is essentially a camera lens surrounded by lights that can be sent down a water drain to send back images in real time to a monitor on the surface. But how this is done and the standard of lens etc varies considerably from camera to camera.
The earlier drain cameras (still used by many plumbers) were essentially a snake camera that you pushed down the pipe and moved it around by twisting the cable etc. As you can imagine, this doesn't always allow you to get the best shot of a problem area. Reline Solutions utilise the latest pipe camera technology and have a range of cameras for both large and small diameter pipes.
Push Rod Pipe Inspection Camera
This pipe camera has a specially designed camera head which can be rotated and tilted from the control unit above to provide the best possible view of any problem areas. It is pushed down the pipe using the cable until it reaches the drain problem where you can then manipulate the camera head to get the best angle. Our sewer cameras can produce live images of the drain as well as create a video record for future repairs, relining, or a building reference.
The push rod drain camera is perfect for smaller diameter pipes.
